Berlin Tegel and Schonefeld airports grow in 2013

Berlin airports, Tegel and Schonefeld, have increased cargo volume during 2013 by 9.6 per cent to 35,239 tons while aircraft movements fell 2.1 per cent and nine per cent respectively despite subdued development at other airports.
December cargo increased 34.4 per cent to 3,137 tons at Tegel and 5.1 per cent to 17,775 tons at Schonefeld year on year.
Passenger volume hit a record of 26.3 million in 2013, to 19.6 million at Tegel and 6.7 million at Schonefeld. December passenger numbers grew 8.4 per cent increase overall to 1.9 million with Tegel accounting for 1.4 million and Schonfeld 500,000.
A further postponement was announced for Berlin's new international airport at Brandenburg which has suffered multiple delays from its planned opening in June 2012 to 2014, the Shipping Gazette informs.
