IAG Cargo has announced it will end its agreement with Global Supply Systems (GSS) under which it has leased three B747-8 freighter aircraft from May 1, according to the Shipping Gazette.
"We have made the decision to revise our longhaul freighter programme. I would also add that we greatly value the support we have received from GSS over the years," said IAG Cargo Steve Gunning.
Said GSS chairman and CEO Rod Lynch: "GSS is proud of its 12 years of freighter operation for British Airways World Cargo then IAG Cargo. Although we are sorry to see the relationship end, we understand IAG Cargo's decision and will now direct GSS towards new opportunities."
IAG Cargo is the single business created following the merger of British Airways World Cargo and Iberia Cargo in April 2011. In 2012 the operations of British Airways World Cargo and Iberia Cargo had joint turnover of EUR1.2 billion (US$1.6 billion). They have a combined workforce of more than 2,400 covering 350 destinations.
