Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) - the major air cargo handler at the world's largest air cargo hub -- has been honoured with the Enterprise Award in this year¡¯s DHL / SCMP Hong Kong Business Awards. The 2012 awards were presented at a glittering ceremony held at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong before an audience of dignitaries and senior executives of local commerce and industry on 29 November (Thursday). The Hong Kong Business Awards were established by DHL and the South China Morning Post in 1990 to give public recognition to the vital contributions made by individuals and companies in maintaining and expanding the economic viability and international stature of Hong Kong and the neighbouring Pearl River Delta. The awards seek to nurture the region's entrepreneurial spirit, and highlight excellence in corporate management and governance. Founded in 1903, the South China Morning Post is Hong Kong's leading English language newspaper and reaches a highly affluent and influential readership. Highly-detailed nominations for all awards are initially vetted and shortlisted, and a distinguished panel of leading academics and business leaders then selects the winners for each of nine personal and corporate categories. In winning the Enterprise Award, Hactl was required to demonstrate excellence in market development, business performance and commercial success - with emphasis on innovation and successful penetration of new markets. Its business structure and standards were also subjected to close scrutiny covering systems, processes, and culture; achievement in customer and stakeholder satisfaction; contribution to society; employee management and welfare; effective risk management; and financial stability and viability. Speaking after the event, Mark Whitehead, Managing Director of Hactl said: "This is the crowning achievement of a successful year and I am delighted to receive the award on behalf of all my staff and colleagues at Hactl." "It is particularly gratifying to achieve this very public recognition of our efforts over the past 36 years, building a highly-professional company which has made a contribution to the commercial success of Hong Kong." He concluded: "In winning the DHL / SCMP Hong Kong Business Awards 2012 ¨C Enterprise Award, Hactl has joined an elite hall of fame. This will be extremely motivating to our staff and encourage us all to work hard together to handle the challenges ahead in our ever-changing operating environment. I am very proud of the employees of Hactl who have collectively made this happen." |
