Dubai International Airport achieved a 2.9% year-on-year increase in cargo volumes August, handling 163,000 tonnes, despite the continuing global downturn in air freight movements.

The year-to-date cargo movements were flat year on year, compared with a decline worldwide of around 17%, according to Airports Council International (ACI).

The airport managed double-digit growth in passenger traffic for the third consecutive month, with a 10.7% improvement in passenger numbers.
