Moves to speed up execution of Dubai aviation masterplan

2007-11-5

The government's new moves will accelerate further the execution of Dubai's ambitious aviation masterplan.

The Dubai Government yesterday issued a law establishing the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA), replacing the Department of Civil Aviation.

The DCAA will be a government entity with financial and administrative independence, responsible for policy making, air traffic, and air transport and air cargo.

It will also represent Dubai in negotiations related to the authority.

It comes at a time when the government is building the world's largest greenfield airport project at a 140-square kilometres site in Jebel Ali - Dubai World Central - which has been renamed Al Maktoum International Airport (AMIA).
