The eligibility rate of China's food exported to the US has remained stable at 99 percent within the past two years, and a little higher than the qualifying rate of US food exported to China, Li Yuanping, director of the Bureau of Import and Export Food Safety of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) said at a news conference on May 31st.
Li Yuanping said that 99 percent is very high eligibility rate for food. Recently, some media tampered with an unauthorized report on China's lack of food security, but the eligibility rate figures show deemed it as speculation. Nothing has zero risk and the not all food can be entirely eligible for the market. Just because one enterprise has a problem, it does not mean China has a problem. If a set of food is ineligible, it does not mean that all Chinese food is ineligible.
Li Yuanping said that China has set up an excellent management system to ensure the safety of food exports, which covers everything from the planting, breeding, scattering and farming of the exports. The achievement of a 99 percent qualifying rate requires much time and energy, as well as a series of scientific measures.
