In the first quarter of 2007, the total import and export value of China's vehicles hit US$13.361. The total value of imports has increased by 18.46 percent and the total value of exports has increased by 36.3 percent. Besides, the growth speed and total value of China's car exports all exceeded the total value and growth speed of imports.
According to the latest statistics published by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, during that same period, China's vehicle imports clearly increased, especially of the sedan. From January to March of this year, a total of 59,100 vehicles have been imported, an increase of 16.72 percent higher than in the same period of the previous year. The total value of imports has gone up by 14 percent of the value during the same period last year. 28,000 sedans have been imported, an increase of 30.9 percent from the same time period last year.
In particular, from January to March of this year, China's vehicle exports and the value of earned foreign exchange continue to grow substantially. During this period, Vehicle exports totally hit 99,800, increased 59.3percent than the same period of last year; total foreign exchange earned through exports goes up 71.82 percent than the same period of last year.
In the vehicle exports, the export value of sedans has gone up by 48.9 percent and the total export of trucks is up by 39.54 percent, than during the same time period last year. China exports 1.8 times more passenger cars now, than during the same period of time last year. Meanwhile, exports of engines and car parts have become the main source of earning profits from foreign trade.
