According to a statement by Bao Fusuo, deputy director of the Economic Operation Division, in the Ministry of Information Industry, at the Taiwan Business Industry Policy Suzhou Forum on May 17th, during the period of the 11th "Five-Year Plan", China's information industry will continue to maintain a sustained, rapid growth, but that growth is likely to slow. The average annual growth rate of the information industry's total income is expected to be 17.6 percent, increasing from 4.44 trillion Yuan in 2005 to 10 trillion Yuan in 2010.
Bao forecasted that the total value of the information industry would increase from 1.32 trillion Yuan in 2005 to 2.6 trillion Yuan. The average annual growth rate is 15 percent. The sum value of the information industry will be around 10 percent of the nation's GDP.
Bao also said that the scale of China's information industry ranked amongst the top information industries worldwide. Even China's output of many major electronic products ranked the highest in the world. In 2006, China's electronic products manufacturing industry reached a value of US$547 billion, accounting for about 25 percent of the total production in the world and ranking second in the world. The production of domestic mobile phones, microcomputers, color televisions, monitors, program-controlled switchboards, portable computers, laser video players and others are at the top in the world market.
