China's truck output, sales decline in February

Truck output and sales declined in China in February, according to figures from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

China produced 133,360 trucks in February, down 1.39 percent from the same period last year and down 19.49 percent from January.

Truck sales declined 3.02 percent year on year to 117,582 units from 103,816 units a month earlier.

Output and sales of light-duty trucks dropped 24.59 percent and13.78 percent from a month earlier to 63,702 and 59,279 units respectively.

The top three best sellers were the Beijing-based Beiqi Foton, the Hubei-based Dongfeng Motor and the Anhui-based Jianghuai Automobile.

Meanwhile, 30,847 heavy-duty trucks were rolled out, down 13.25percent from January, while sales declined 12.5 percent month on month to 24,175 units. Both output and sales rose 32.48 percent and 31.72 percent respectively from the same period last year.

The Shandong-based Sinotruk, the Jilin-based FAW and Dongfeng Motor were the three largest heavy-duty truck producers in February.
