Finnair, which launched India operations in October last year, is stepping up India frequency from three to 12 flights per week by June this year.

Mumbai will join Finnair’s international network with five direct flights from Helsinki from June, while the thrice-a-week frequency from Delhi will become a daily service from mid-May. Plans are to have a daily service from Mumbai by the year-end. Finnair has interline agreements with several Indian carriers including Jet Airways, Air Sahara and Indian. Return economy fares from Delhi start off from Rs 20,000, while business-class fares range between Rs 1,25,000 and 1,50,000, excluding taxes.

Inaugural economy-class fares between Mumbai and Helsinki are expected to start off from Rs 17,500 level, excluding taxes. Taina Tronstrom, director, Indian subcontinent, Finnair, told ET that the short six and half hour travel time between Delhi and Helsinki is the biggest USP for the airline. Travel time between India and Finland will increase by one hour while flying from Mumbai.
