Descartes to acquire Cube Route

On-demand logistics software and services company, The Descartes Systems Group Inc., signed an agreement to acquire certain assets of privately-held Toronto, Ontario-based Cube Route Inc.

The transaction is scheduled to close January 31, 2007, according to a Cube Route press release.

Cube Route provides on-demand logistics management solutions that include planning, routing, sequencing and optimizing of delivery routes, real-time driver and vehicle tracking, and delivery route analysis. Cube Route¨s last mile logistics solution is offered on a pay-as-you-go subscription basis.

Descartes is a software-as-a-service company that is works on the development of the world's largest multimodal electronic logistics messaging network, called the Global Logistics Network or GLN. Descartes' on-demand GLN processes more than a million messages every day for companies with transport operations. Descartes also offers software layered on top of the GLN for areas including truck scheduling and route optimization that allows carriers, shippers, and intermediaries to translate these messages into actionable information.
