South Korea's oil consumption decreased 4.8 percent in April compared to the previous month due to weak demand in the transportation and power generation sectors, South Korea's Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy said on Wednesday.
The overall consumption in April fell to 65.15 million barrels from 68.41 million barrels in March, the ministry said.
It was the fourth straight month that South Korean domestic oil product consumption fell on a monthly basis.
Gasoline consumption dropped 3.6 percent from the previous month as high prices encouraged people to leave their cars home, the ministry said.
The consumption of diesel fuel, liquefied petroleum gas, kerosene and industrial bunker-C oil also fell, it added.
