French Car maker PSA Peugeot Citroen will launch six new additional models by 2010, bringing to 41 the total number of models to be launched by this date, PSA Peugeot CEO Christian Streiff announced Wednesday.
In an interview published Wednesday by the economic newspaper "Les Echos," Streiff said "we have not killed any project" of marketing the range and "we have added six more today, which brings the number to 41 models by 2010."
His plan of action dubbed Cap 2010 is also expected to translate into a reduction of "30 percent" of "fixed costs and structure, which are not directly linked to production."
According to him, half of the 41 new models will specially be destined for South America and China, thanks to local assembly plants in those countries.
Dubbed "CAP 2010," this program is aimed at reviving PSA which has recorded a significant sale decline in Europe for the last three years. The group intends to launch a major commercial offensive to regain a market share of 15.5 percent in Europe by 2010, compared to the current 13.3 percent only.
Moreover, Streiff was expected to unveil Wednesday his strategy targeting "growth and profit," during the PSA share-holders' general assembly.
