The Chinese mainland stock markets closed up on Tuesday.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index climbed 45.341 points, or 1.33 pct to close at 3444.291, While the Shenzhen Stock Index rose 176.968 points, or 1.87 pct, to end the day at 9652.679.
Japan
The Nikkei slipped 79.07, or 0.5 percent, to 17,664.69 in Tokyo. It closed at the highest since Feb. 27 yesterday. The broader Topix index fell 2.41, or 0.1 percent, to 1735.69. Stocks showed little reaction after the Bank of Japan announced during the afternoon session it left interest rates unchanged at 0.5 percent.
Australian
The S&P/ASX 200 Index climbed 75.90, or 1.3 percent, to 6153.0 at the close in Sydney. About four times more stocks rose than fell. New Zealand's NZX 50 Index dropped 0.1 percent to 4180.47 in Wellington.
The S&P/ASX 200 Index's futures contract for rose 1.1 percent to 6185. The broader All Ordinaries Index added 1.2 percent to 6139.10.
