Beijing Unicom Offers Free Incoming Calls
POSTED: 2:34 p.m. EDT, February 24,2007

Beijing Unicom, a local branch of China's second largest mobile phone operator China Unicom Ltd., has announced subscribers can enjoy free incoming calls from Wednesday.

According to a Beijing Unicom spokesman, the free calls are only available to users in Beijing at present due to "complicated charging policies".

Beijing Unicom's rival Beijing Mobile, local branch of China's largest mobile operator China Mobile Ltd., started providing free incoming calls packages for a monthly prepaid fee on Feb. 8.

Beijing Unicom has about 7 million users while the number of Beijing Mobile subscribers exceeds 10 million.
