POSTED: 11:53 a.m. EDT, January 17,2007

Warren Hoemann, former deputy administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMSCA), was named a senior vice president for seven councils and conferences at the American Trucking Associations (ATA) earlier this week.

Hoemann resigned from his post at the FMSCA in May , and he served in that position from March 2003 until earlier this year. During his tenure at the FMCSA, he helped to reduce regulatory backlog by 68 percent, oversaw the FMCSA achieve its highest level of safety, and acted as a modal leader in helping the DOT reach the coveted Green status in several President¡¯s Management Agenda (PMA) initiatives. He also helped reaching an interagency agreement regarding intermodal chassis maintenance and guided the FMSCA headquarters during Hurricane Katrina.

He has also served as vice president of the California Trucking Association and vice president for Yellow Corp.

Hoemann will begin his new position at the ATA later this month. The councils and conferences he will oversee at the ATA include: National Accounting and Finance Council; Safety and Loss Prevention Management Council; Security Council; and the Technology and Maintenance Council. ATA¡¯s three affiliated conferences representing specific segments of industry are the Automobile Carriers Conference, Agricultural and Food Transporters Conference, and the Intermodal Motor Carriers Conference. These councils address federal and national issues that impact the trucking industry, according to the ATA.

¡°Our members and ATA have enjoyed a solid working relationship with Warren throughout the years and most recently as Deputy Administrator and Acting Administrator of FMCSA,¡± said ATA president and CEO Bill Graves in a statement. ¡°In this new position, Warren will provide leadership and greater visibility to the important work of our councils and conferences.¡±
