Environmentally friendly booth designs at the International Pavilion of the Pazhou complex have helped exhibitors capture the attention of domestic buyers attending the ongoing China Import and Export Fair.

Most overseas exhibitors have included typical cultural characteristics into their booth designs at the International Pavilion, aiming to better attract potential Chinese buyers.

The International Pavilion was introduced last year for the first time at the enormous trade convention - known internationally as the Canton Fair - allowing a growing number of foreign businesses to easily enter the booming Chinese market.

Painted with the colors of the Italian national flag, the Italian Trade Commission's space is divided into 10 meeting rooms.

"It is typically Italian," said Peng Xiaohong, who works for the commission.

Also, booths from Turkey, the United States, Malaysia and India, have all been spotlighted at the fair, all with styles that reflect their cultures. Most materials used to decorate the booth are environmentally friendly.

For instance, wood used at the Turkey exhibit is all fire-resistant, while metal structures at the Italian booth are recycled.

"It is the first time for the Italian Trade Commission to have a presence at the International Pavilion. But it is sure that we will come for future sessions," Peng said.

Citing design is a key competitiveness for Italy to promote its investment environment, Peng said the commission will try its best to upgrade the booth decoration for next sessions.

"Unique booth design will, by all means, help us to realize more deals and better tap the Chinese market," Peng said.
