On November 14, 2007, JCtrans, following forums in Tianjin and Shenzhen, held the 2nd E-Business Management for International Logistics Forum - Seminar on the "Blue Sea" Strategy for Freight Forwarders, in Shanghai. The "Blue Sea" strategy is aimed at developing an uncontested market by creating and capturing new business opportunities. This is in contrast with the "Red Sea" strategy, or price war, which is aimed at reducing prices for existing customers in order to fend off the competition. Over 800 representatives from more than 600 freight forwarding companies took part in the forum. At this forum they discussed how to use e-business and several other methods to develop more business in China, and to expand business scope on the world stage. Most of the representatives showed that they benefited a lot from the forum.
There are around 5,000 freight forwarding companies registered with the appropriate government departments in Shanghai, and nearly 50,000 that are not. The number of them is increasing so rapidly that some problems have emerged that are affecting the development of the Shanghai freight forwarding industry. The "NVOCC bond" policy and the adjustment on export rebates are also having a great impact on traditional logistics. The hottest topic at the moment in the freight forwarding community is how to enhance your company's strength in light of the ferocious competition in the industry. The forum held by JCtrans promoted the idea of using e-business to help them solve this problem.
At 2:00 pm Beijing time, JCtrans held the meeting focusing on the "Blue Sea" strategy for the freight forwarding industry at Galaxy Hotel, Zhongshan Xi Road, Shanghai. More than 700 freight forwarders took part in the meeting. At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Lee Feng, CEO of JCtrans, delivered a speech entitled "How can Online Logistics Improve the Competitiveness of Freight Forwarding Companies".
JCtrans delivered an idea that combines traditional logistics with online logistics in order to help boost a company's strength. Online logistics not only makes cargo collection easier for freight forwarders, but also provides a quick and effective way for them to master the "Blue Sea" strategy. By analyzing some cases, Mr. Lee shared his opinions about business strategy, company development, and the opportunities available in the freight forwarding industry, and received a warm response.
During the meeting, JCtrans held a raffle with three first prizes of 1 million RMB cargo insurance cover on offer. The winners were Liu Jin, manager of Double-Win Freight Agent Ltd, Zhou Ming, vice chief manager of Shanghai Guan Jia Shipping Agency Co. Ltd, and Ms. Chen, a staff member of World Express Logistics INC.
The meeting came to a peak during the "Executive Talks" when professional e-business project design experts expressed their views on the logistics industry. The honored speakers included Mr Lee Linhai, general secretary of Shanghai International Freight Forwarders Association, Dr Lin Guolong, teacher of Logistics Engineering at Shanghai Maritime University, Professor Zhao Yifei from the International Aviation Department at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and other representatives from freight forwarding companies in Shanghai.
The meeting ended successfully and the attendees showed that they were looking forward to the next one.
