Air India Cargo plans to commence large-scale freighter operations to Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong and China during the second half of the year. According to Air India sources, feasibility studies are being conducted in terms of inbound and outbound cargo between India and these other destinations. According to market reports, in 2007 India saw its domestic airfreight traffic grow by 15%, while its international traffic grew by 25%. With Indian companies handling only 12% of the total volume, Indian players are gearing up to receive a larger share of the cargo pie.
