French global logistics giant Geodis has harnessed its new web site - http://geodis.mobi - to enhance package traceability for "groupage", or less-than-container-load customers.

The new web site provides access to a database of Geodis Group contacts and partner companies. and has been developed for mobile terminals, which guarantees the site's extensive portability, the company said.

This has been confirmed by tests carried out on a wide range of mobile terminals, including mobile phones, smartphones2 and PDAs3, said a company statement.

"The wider availability of internet mobile phones - 47 per cent of mobile phone users or 1 billion people are connected - makes it is reasonable to assume that customers will be interested in services that can be accessed via handsets," explained a Geodis official.
