Shenzhen aims to add 15 berths over five years
POSTED: 9:23 a.m. EDT, February 2,2007

Shenzhen, the second busiest Chinese port last year, says it aims to have three new berths up and running every year over the next five years.

In a proposal released recently, the city government of Shenzhen said in order to achieve its aim it would speed up the construction of Yantian phase III expansion project, Shekou phase III and Da Chan Bay phase I.

It also stated in the document that Shenzhen would try to attract the top 30 international shipping lines to move their regional headquarters to the city by offering one-off moving subsidies.

The city government will also reserve the land near the container port for shipping lines and logistics companies and restrict the development of residential premises in those areas.
