President Hu pledges to promote cooperation with Guinea Bissau

Beijing cranks up security by mobilizing 810,000 non-police forces
 
Beijing authorities will mobilize 810,000 non-police forces to patrol in residential communities and streets as an extra security measure during the upcoming China-Africa forum. The non-police forces will include people from almost all walks of life, such as government officials, retired people, security guards, parking lot fee collectors, migrant workers, business people from outside the capital and various other volunteers, said a spokesman with the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau.

Mbeki to attend Beijing Summit on China-Africa cooperation
 
South African President Thabo Mbeki will lead a senior government delegation to China on November 3 for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC)Summit of Heads of State and Government in Beijing scheduled from November 4 to 5. Ronnie Mamoepa, spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs, said in a statement issued here on Sunday that Mbeki will participate in this Summit within the context of South Africa's commitment to consolidate the African agenda through South-South cooperation including cooperation projects through the New Africa-Asia Strategic Partnership (NAASP).

Summit new peak in China-Africa relations
 
Asked about my impression of Africa after my recent Africa tour, I came up with one word: "Profound." Africa served as the cradle of the human race in its infancy and it so happened that I came to know the continent when I was very young, knowing that there were black brothers and sisters who shared much the same fate with we Chinese in old China.
