The Andean Community of Nations (CAN) should sign a free trade or trade cooperation pact with the European Union (EU), Peruvian Foreign Minister Jose Garcia Belaunde said on Wednesday.
Garcia made the remarks upon his arrival in the southern Bolivian city of Tarija, where CAN nations held a summit, reports reaching here said.
"We have a great opportunity to improve our relationship with the European bloc. We should prioritize this important topic," he said.
Without giving details, Garcia said CAN-EU negotiations would include trade and political collaboration agreements, which would strengthen Andean nations' economic integration.
The Tarija meeting, which ends on Thursday, would focus on development and infrastructure projects in border regions, he added.
