Hong Kong's total goods exports volume grew 13.8 per cent in November on the same month last year, while the goods imports volume rose 15 per cent, Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department said Thursday.
According to the figure released by the department, within the month total, the goods re-exports volume grew 17 per cent and that of domestic exports fell 28.4 per cent.
Last November saw goods re-export prices rise 1.9 per cent, while those of domestic exports fell 0.7 per cent. Taken together, total goods export prices fell 1.8 per cent and goods import prices rose 2.1 per cent.
Comparing the first 11 months of 2006 with the same period in 2005, the goods re-exports volume rose 10.2 per cent, and that of domestic exports by 5.8 per cent. Taken together, the total goods export volume grew 9.9 per cent and the goods import volume rose 10 per cent.
Over the same period, goods re-exports prices rose 1 per cent, while those of domestic exports fell 2.2 per cent. Taken together, total goods exports prices rose 0.8 per cent and goods import prices rose 2 per cent.
Comparing November 2006 with November 2005, the import prices of all end-use categories increased: raw materials and semi-manufactures (+3.3 per cent), foodstuffs (+3.2 per cent), capital goods (+1.7 per cent), consumer goods (+1.1 per cent) and fuels (+0.2 per cent), the department said.
