Taiwan is expected to overtake the Republic of Korea (ROK) as the world's biggest flat panel screen producer by the end of this year, according to local media reports.

Taiwan is expected to produce 140 million large-size (above 10 inches) TFT-LCD panels this year, 31 million more than that of the ROK.

Taiwan's large-size panel will hold 50 percent of the world market this year.

The gross output value of flat panel displays in Taiwan exceeded 1 trillion New Taiwan Dollars (31.25 billion U.S. dollars) from January to October, and the yearly output value is expected to reach 1.28 trillion New Taiwan Dollars, 312.5 billion dollars more than last year.
