Kalmar, a unit of Finnish-based Cargotec manufacturer, is to supply 12 terminal tractors and a further seven lift trucks and one reachstacker to Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port, part of the NCSP Group in Russia, according to Shipping Gazette.
The order, which further strengthens Kalmar's relationship with NCSP, represents a significant move to modernise the operators' mobile equipment at a number of its terminal throughout Russia.
The NCSP Group is Europe's third largest port operator with a 28 per cent market share in Russia. The group operates the ports of Novorossiysk on the Black Sea and Kaliningrad's Primorsk on the Baltic.
The exact order comprises twelve TR618i terminal tractors with 32 ton capacity; two DCF420-12 lift trucks fitted with magnets; two DCF330-12LB lift trucks with magnets; one DCF200; two DCF330 and one reachstaker DRF450-65S5X with magnet.
NCSP chief executive Y Matvienko said the investment will increase efficiency and expand capacity. Kalmar has proven to be a reliable partner "not just with equipment but also in after sales support", he said.
Kalmar's solution ensures the high levels of equipment availability coupled to low costs of ownership. We've had good experience of Kalmar's terminal tractors in the past and the latest TR618i products, fitted with goosenecks, provide sufficient flexibility and productivity, he said.
"We have also seen an increase in metals handling so the range of Kalmar lift trucks, fitted with magnet attachments, allows us to make the most of this opportunity," he added.
