Container leasing company Noble Container Leasing Ltd (NCL), Hong Kong, has announced the acquisition of 75 per cent of of the shares of the Singapore based company Global Container Rental Pte Ltd (GCR), according to Shipping Gazette.
GCR was founded in 2003 as a container trading and leasing company and subsequently has grown to a major player in the trading and domestic leasing business. Presently GCR owns a fleet of 1,500 containers and had a sublease fleet of 4,250 containers.
The current staff of GCR will remain with the company. The existing NCL office in Singapore will be integrated into the office of GCR and GCR will change its name to Noble Container Leasing Singapore Pte Ltd.
NCL is now expecting an expansion into the Far East with the offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai and Korea for the tank and dry containers and special equipment to meet offshore, housing and domestic requirements.
The acquisition of GCR and its international expertise gives NCL a solid base to further expand its presence and to provide additional services to its growing customer base in the Asian region.
Starting off in 2004 in the UK as SeaAxis Ltd, NCL now based in Hong Kong and maintains offices in Shanghai, Singapore, Hamburg and Florida. NCL leases containers to shipping and transport operators.
