Fujian's port container throughput up 10.1 pc in first two months

Ports in southeastern China's Fujian province posted a collective throughput of 1.71 million TEU in the first two months of the year, up 10.1 per cent compared to the same period last year, reported Xinhua.
Xiamen, the largest port in Fujian, lifted 1.16 million TEU, up 6.8 per cent year on year. And Fuzhou, the second largest port, experienced a 11.3 per cent throughput increase to 302,100 TEU.
In the same period, the aggregate throughput tonnage of all ports in Fujian amounted to 74.04 million tonnes, up 11.3 per cent from the same period last year.
Xiamen handled a total of 30.39 million tonnes of cargo, up 9.4 per cent. Fuzhou's cargo volume also soared 19.3 per cent to 21.94 million tonnes.
