The Timber Handling Association (THA, India) has opened a container office inside the Kandla Port area.
The premises was recently inaugurated by Mr H. C. Venkatesh, Traffic Manager of Kandla Port Trust (KPT), and other Port officials in the presence of Mr Hemchandra Yadav of Shivam Shipping Services, President of THA, and Mr Gopi Bhojwani of R. T. Bhojwani & Sons (Clearing) Pvt. Ltd, Vice-President of THA, Exim News Service informs.
According to THA officials, the office will ensure the delivery of logs in proper form to principals and importers round-the-clock and reduce the backlog.
Security personnel and supervisors are working in shifts to make sure that the log marks are in place and that the quantity loaded in the trailers is as per what is mentioned in the gate passes of the CHAs.
THA officials are also taking proper safety measures while moving the extra-long logs, it was pointed out. During the day, such logs are highlighted with red flags, and with reflectors during the night to ensure visibility.
