DP World set to participate at the World Ports & Trade Summit

2011-1-25

Global port operator DP World will participate at the World Ports & Trade Summit in Abu Dhabi, organisers of the show announced yesterday.

In association with the ADPC (Abu Dhabi Ports Company), the World Ports & Trade Summit will take place at ADNEC between 28-30 March 2011, to deliver an unprecedented exchange of information on the future of ports, global trade, and related industries.

DP World will exhibit alongside other major terminal operators including Abu Dhabi Terminals, ADPC, RAK Port Authority, Ras Laffan Port and Sharjah Port Authority.

Recently, the World Trade Organization raised its trade growth projection for 2010 to 13.5% based on 'faster than expected recovery' as world merchandise trade rose sharply in the first two quarters of the year.

The projections also reflect the strong growth recorded by the UAE and the region, growth that is continuing to fuel the build and expansion of the region's ports with $46.5bn worth of development projects now underway.

As a premium networking platform, the World Ports and Trade Summit will address challenges, shifts and opportunities emerging from the current macro-economic outlook to help provide a clearer picture of the industry's recovery schedule.

The Summit will also include an international exhibition, hosted tours of ports facilities in the UAE and a carefully designed mix of keynote conference sessions and training workshops.

Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, Group CEO, Dubai World; Group CEO Ports & Free Zone World; Joint Vice Chairman, DP World, and Mohammed Sharaf, CEO, DP World will both participate as speakers within the main conference programme.
