ADPC recently began the preparations to install the security perimeter fencing for the Free Port to the west of Mina Zayed and the Municipality Port to the north of Mina Zayed. This will also include the security fences and gates to both ports. The fences are being erected as part of an initiative taken by the security authorities in Abu Dhabi.

For the Free Port, the security fence will be approximately 2,480 metres long and will include two main gates. As for the Municipality Port, the security fence will be approx. 1,020 metres long with one gate.

Tawfeeq Y. Al Mubarak, Executive Vice President Ports Unit, said, "This is an important undertaking for us at ADPC as we comply with the security authorities in Abu Dhabi. The project preparations have already begun and will be completed in the second quarter of 2011."
