This enhances the Japanese shipping line's existing ro/ro service to the Middle East. All types of ro/ro cargo are to be accepted, such as mafi trailers for select destinations, reported the American Journal of Transportation (AJOT).
"We are pleased to further grow our partnership with NYK RoRo and provide more options to the industry," said chief commercial officer Roy Schleicher.
The newly expanded service offers connections to Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Japan and Australia, as well China and Taiwan via Japan.
The US port boasts 14 ocean carriers moving automobiles for a dozen manufacturers and is serviced by three automobile processors located near the ro/ro berths.
