Russia's Far East Shipping Company (Fesco) said this week it had been in talks with Japanese customers to increase cargo volumes at Russian Commercial Port of Vladivostok.
Fesco processes containers and general cargo, grain equipment and vehicles destined to Japan at its Japan Trans-Siberian Line (JTSL) and roll-on/roll-off (Ro/Ro) services. It also organises transshipment of cargo at Vladivostok, according to SeeNews Shipping.
JTSL, which follows the Vostochny-Vladivostok-Yokohama-Nagoya-Kobe-Moji-Toyamashinko-Vostochny route, is the only direct sea service linking ports of Japan and Russia, Fesco's president Ruslan Alikhanov said.
It is available twice a week. The Russian company transported 11,079 TEU of containers through JTSL in January-September 2013, up by 33.5 percent on the year. Imports grew by 36.7 percent to 6,612 TEU of containers.
Ships deployed on Fesco Ro-Ro Line call at the Japanese ports of Yokohama, Nagoya, Kobe, Osaka, Hamada and Omaezaki, China's Shanghai and Xingang ports and at Vladivostok.
