NATIONAL Container Company's (NCC) First Container Terminal (FCT) in St Petersburg has broken the one million TEU mark this year.
The milestone was reached when the millionth container handled since the beginning of 2013 was loaded onto a Yang Ming container ship operated by CKYH Alliance members Yang Ming, Hanjin Shipping and Cosco, reports St Petersburg PortNews.
First Container Terminal, which has an annual container handling capacity of 1.25 million TEU, is the leading container terminal in Russia and the Baltic Sea Region. It is linked to Europe's largest ports of Rotterdam, Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Antwerp by an extensive feeder network.
The 89-hectare terminal has a quay length of 779 metres, depth alongside berth of 11 metres, yard storage capacity of 28,800 TEU and reefer storage capacity of 2,905 plugs.
