CSAV traffic picks up

Chilean shipping line CSAV's monthly volumes passed the 150,000teu mark in July for the first time this year.

The carrier reported volumes of around 155,000teu, up from 140,000teu in June and 125,000teu in May.

However, CSAV's volumes still lag behind December, when it transported 180,000teu and, year-on-year, volumes were down from the 195,000teu carried in July 2008.

CSAV has also announced it is to deploy two ships into MSC's ECSA I service from the US to South America.

Rotation will be Freeport, Charleston, Norfolk, New York, Baltimore, Savannah, Freeport, Caucedo, Santos, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio Grande, Sao Francisco Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Suape, Caucedo and Freeport.
