Shippers using the roll-on/roll-off (RO-RO) nautical highway will not be spared from increasing cost after the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) authorized a 15 percent rate increase, Thai News Service reported.
PPA said they made the order to level the playing field after they allowed last month all authorized cargo-handlers nationwide to implement a 15 percent rate-recovery adjustment.
They added that they include the RO-RO terminal operations in the increase to recover their losses the past couple of years since they are still using the 2003 prescribed rates. |
