SHANGHAI, Sep 03, 2008 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- COSCO Shipping Co., Ltd. (SHSE: 600428), a subsidiary of China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company (COSCO), on August 30, 2008 posted basic earnings per share of CNY 1.41 for the first half of 2008.
The Shanghai-listed company gained CNY 3.465 billion turnovers, CNY 1.11 billion operating profits and CNY 926.495 million net profits during the period, up 41.2%, 116.98% and 161.23% compared with the same period of 2007, showed in its interim report. It planned to attribute ten bonus shares and CNY 2 to all shareholders for each ten shares.
The export transportation sector contributed 48.84% of the company's total transportation revenues, with revenue from the sector growing 38.27% over a year ago. The operating profit from the sector hiked 112% versus a year ago and accounted for 59.1% of its total operational profits of fleet.
The company, which owned and controlled 84 ships of various types with total carrying capacity of 1.348 million deadweight tonnages by June 30 this year, predicts an over 100% surge in net profit in the first three quarters of this year.
