2008-8-12

Batumi International Container Terminal LLC (BICTL), the operator of the Batumi International Container Terminal (BICT), has recently acquired two new mobile harbour cranes.

The new Gottwald mobile harbour cranes have been stationed at berths 4 and 5 at the Black Sea port, Georgia.

"The acquisition is part of BICTL's plan to upgrade BICT's container handling capability with the end view of making it the leading trading gateway in the Black Sea," a company statement said.

It said the commissioning of the cranes at Batumi has attracted the interest of several shipping lines who may start calling at BCT in future.

BICTL is a subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI), which is headquartered in the Philippines.
