Damco, Maersk's freight forwarder, is celebrating its first anniversary as a global forwarder this month.

The company was established in 2007 through the merger between Dutch freight forwarding company Damco Sea and Air and the forwarding activities of Denmark-based DSL Star Express.

Damco works with major ocean carriers and airlines, local landside service providers and a broad range of global service providers to provide personalised and flexible services to customers.

In 2007, Damco shipped 621,000 TEU, a company statement said, and air freighted 62,000 tons of cargo and employs 3,900 staff in 200 offices in more than 100 countries.
