TransContainer to handle VW auto parts in Kaluga, Russia

TransContainer has announced that is has handled its 100th container train that arrived in Kaluga, western Russia, from Germany on behalf of car manufacturer Volkswagen.

The train was carrying auto parts for cars being manufactured at the Volkswagen Rus automotive plant in Kaluga in central Russia, said www.dars.ru Russian Transport Daily Report.

Since January 20, 2008 TransContainer has delivered about 11,000 TEU by container trains to Kaluga. Over the course of the year, the company expects to deliver 50,000 TEU in total to the Volkswagen Rus automotive plant.

In support of this arrangement, TransContainer has opened its own agency in Kaluga to handle all the transportation and logistics activities involved in the operation of the plant.
