K+N to manage France-Algeria goods flow for Legrand

2008-6-3

Legrand, a global specialist in products and systems for electrical installations and information networks, has awarded Kuehne + Nagel a contract to handle the supply of its products to Algeria.

Under the terms of the new agreement, Kuehne + Nagel will be responsible for the end-to-end management of goods flow out of Legrand's in-house international distribution centre at Verneuil-en-Halatte in Picardy, France to customers in Algeria.

The solution implemented and managed by Kuehne + Nagel includes pick-up of containers and isolated pallets, road shuttling to Marseille port, less than container load consolidation and transport by sea to Algiers, as well as customs and import declarations management. Inventory management and order picking are managed at a 2,000-square-metre shared-user facility in the Algiers area from where final road distribution will be arranged.

Kuehne + Nagel's web-based visibility tool will provide Legrand with 24/7 access to all relevant transportation data, thereby allowing for the constant monitoring of distribution flow and delivery status information.
