2008-6-29

Logistics firm GreenCarrier Asia, part of the Bjork Eklund Group, has appointed Peter Chu as managing director and will be tasked with developing the company's operations in Greater China.

For much of his career Mr Chu has been involved with the Sweden-China trade and has considerable knowledge of the Swedish market and its corporate culture.

Formerly with Wilson Freight, he fulfilled roles as Sea Freight manager, assistant general manager, director and deputy managing director before becoming managing director of TNT Freight Management. In 2006 he joined Baltrans Logistics HK Ltd as managing director of its North China operations. His experience encompasses airfreight as well as ocean freight and door-to-door logistics, a company statement said.

Staffan Kjellberg, managing director, GreenCarrier International, said: "With almost 40 years' experience of the shipping and freight forwarding business, Peter will be a considerable asset to GreenCarrier both in China and internationally. His name is well known in the Asia-Europe trades and he has many contacts amongst the shipper fraternity and elsewhere."

Mr Chu said: "One of my first priorities is to consolidate our Hong Kong business base and our next step will be to open up more branches in China, where I hope to see at least two new offices within a year and even more in the future.

GreenCarrier has nine offices in Sweden plus two in the Norwegian capital Oslo. In addition, it has developed rapidly in the Baltic States, most recently opening offices in Tallinn, Estonia and Klaipeda and Lithuania. The company expanded into China in 2006, initially opening offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai, the release added.
