OOCL to operate new Indonesia-Malaysia (IMS) service

2008-6-27

OOCL is launching a new container shipping service that combines the Hong Kong carrier's existing Jakarta (JKT2) and Penang (PEN) feeder services.

The new service is called the Indonesia-Malaysia service (IMS) and will be launched on July 3, 2008 from Singapore, a company statement said.

The new service will deploy two 600-TEU vessels and is being started in response to increased customer demand between Indonesia and Malaysia. The service provides direct links between Jakarta, Merak, Port Kelang and Penang with faster transit times, while maintaining OOCL's existing feeder network that links Singapore to Indonesia and Malaysia.

The port rotation for the IMS service is: Singapore, Merak, Jakarta, Singapore, Port Kelang, Singapore, Penang and back to Singapore on a 14-day round trip.

Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Stock Exchange-listed Orient Overseas (International) Ltd. OOCL is an international container transport and logistics services provider, with more than 280 offices in 58 countries.
