Hamburg Sud new service to connect India

Starting July 11, Hamburg Sud, the German shipping line, is launching a new container service connecting Far East with India and Pakistan with simultaneous sailings from Port Kelang and Shanghai, according to shipping industry sources.

With this, the shipping line's recently restructured EPIC service, in partnership with Hapag-Lloyd, another German line, gets expanded. The EPIC service currently covers the trade route between Northern Europe/ Mediterranean and West Asia /India /Pakistan. The Indian ports covered are Mundra and Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal (NSICT).

The new weekly fixed-day service will comprise two slings, providing direct connections between mainland China, Hong Kong, and the Indian subcontinent. The port rotation for sling one is: Shanghai-Ningbo-Hong Kong- Singapore- Port Kelang-NSICT - Port Kelang-Singapore-Hong Kong-Shanghai. For sling two, the port rotation is: Port Kelang-Singapore-Colombo-Karachi-Mundra - Tuticorin - Port Kelang.

The new service is expected to provide good onward connections to Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Coast of South America, the sources added.
