FEFC announces BAF surcharge of US$610/TEU in Asia Med west coast Europe

2008-6-1

Member container shipping lines participating in the Far Eastern Freight Conference (FEFC) have announced a Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) for the trade to and from ports in the Mediterranean and on the west coast of Europe.

To and from the UK, North West Continent, Scandinavia and the Baltic Sea Region, a statement said the BAF applicable for July will be US$610 per TEU and $30.50 W/M LCL, plus an additional $11.00 per TEU and $0.55 W/M Low Sulphur Fuel Surcharge.

The Currency Adjustment Factor (CAF) for July will be +17.4 per cent.

On a final point, it is worthwhile to note that following the repeal of the liner conference exemption in the European Union, the FEFC will terminate operations on October 17 2008.

Accordingly, the conference tariff and any other existing FEFC arrangements will cease to be in operation from October 18.

FEFC member lines are: ANL Container Lines, APL, CMA CGM, CSAV Norasia, Egyptian International Shipping Co., Hapag-Lloyd, HMM, "K" Line, Maersk Line, MISC, MOL, MSC, NYK, OOCL, Safmarine, Yangming and Zim.
