Conferences, FEFC, CTSA, ESPMC-WITASS, increase BAF and CAF

Three inter shipping line groups - FEFC, CTSA and the ESPMC-WITASS - have increased the bunker and currency surcharges except in one case where the currency charge will be lowered slightly.

Members of the Canada Transpacific Stabilisation Agreement (CTSA) will increase their fuel recovery surcharges starting June 1 reported American Shipper.

CTSA will increase BAF from US$796 to $832 per TEU from $995 to $1,040 per FEU from $1,120 to $1170 per 40-foot high-cube from $1,260 to $1,317 per 45-foot container, and from $22 to $23 weight measure adjustment.

Reversing the expected direction of surcharges, CTSA's currency adjustment factor will be seven per cent, down from eight per cent.

CTSA carriers are APL, Cosco Container Lines, Evergreen Line, Hanjin Shipping, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, "K" Line, MOL, NYK, OOCL, Yang Ming and Zim.

The Far Eastern Freight Conference will also increase BAF and CAF from June 1 in trades from the United Kingdom, northwest continent, Scandinavia and the Baltic Sea and also the Mediterranean and west coast Europe region will rise to $546 per TEU from $509 per TEU.

The currency adjustment factor will rise to 18.2 per cent from 17.7 per cent.

FEFC member lines include ANL Container Lines, APL, CMA CGM, CSAV Norasia, Egyptian International Shipping, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, "K" Line, Maersk, Mediterranean Shipping Co, MISC Berhad, MOL, NYK, OOCL, Safmarine, Yang Ming and Zim.

The European/Caribbean/South American ESPMC-WITASS conference will also increase BAF from June, rising to $587 from $548 per TEU; and $1,174 up from $1,096 per FEU, and $29 from $27 the per-freight-ton.

The conference will maintain its monthly low-sulphur fuel surcharge for shipments to and from Baltic Sea ports, Hamburg to Le Havre, Scandinavian countries, Poland, the UK and Ireland at $9 per TEU.

Conference members include Container Cargo Lines, CMA CGM, Compania Sud Americana de Vapores (CSAV), Hamburg Sud, Hapag-Lloyd and "K" Line.
