China trade surplus up 23.9pc in April

China customs recorded a foreign trade surplus of US$220.7 billion in April, an increase of 23.9 per cent over the same month a year ago and 19.6 per cent comparing to March's $204.5 billion.

In this month, China's export value rose 21.8 per cent to $118.7 billion, import value rose 26.3 per cent to $102 billion, generating a trade surplus of $6.7 billion.
