The Virginia Port Authority's Norfolk International Terminals has taken delivery of three new gantry cranes for loading and unloading container ships.
The US$24 million shipment had been dispatched from China on aboard the Zhen Hua 16.
The 208-foot-tall cranes will be installed on a specially constructed 900-foot-long stretch of wharf at the North Wharf Extension, and they are expected to enter service by July, following adjustments and testing, a report by The Virginian Pilot said.
