Hanjin receives two of eight 4,300-TEU newbuildings from Samsung

2008-5-22

South Korea's Hanjin Shipping has taken delivery of two new 4,300-TEU vessels built by Samsung Heavy Industries.

The ships named the Hanjin Norfolk and the Hanjin Piraeus are the second and the third vessels in a series of the eight 4,300-TEU container ships ordered back in 2005.

Hanjin Shipping says these new 4,300-TEU vessels consume less fuel than other ships of the same class and can easily change speed according to operational situations.

The Hanjin Norfolk and the Hanjin Piraeus will be deployed on Hanjin's All Water East Coast Central (AWE) service, starting from the beginning of June.

The port rotation for the AWE service is Xiamen, Yantian, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Savannah, Norfolk, Charleston, and back to Xiamen.
