'K' Line, Hanjin, Yang Ming upgrade ECSA-USEC service

'K' Line, Hanjin Shipping and Yang Ming have unveiled plans to revamp their east coast South America-US east coast service through cooperation with CSAV.

The ECAS service currently operated by the three lines, together with Hyundai, will be discontinued and instead "K" Line, Hanjin and Yang Ming will deploy one 2,500-TEU vessel in the USATLAN service, starting from May 2008.

At present the USATLAN service is operated by CSAV using five 2,500-TEU vessels. The last sailing of the ECAS will be undertaken by the Port Said, which is scheduled to arrive at Santos on May 5.

The port rotation for the new USATLAN service will be: New York, Baltimore, Norfolk, Charleston, Sao Francisco do Sul, Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, returning to New York.
